As the YouTube Partner Program continues to grow, it’s important to maintain a healthy, active ecosystem of channels. After choosing how you want to monetize, you’ll be able to manage ad preferences, turn on monetization for your uploads, and more. To turn on monetization features, you’ll need to review and accept the relevant module terms. We’ll get back to you with a decision once your channel is reviewed (typically in about 1 month).

What if I don’t meet the program threshold?

For info about Shorts view eligibility with regards to how we calculate payments, see our YouTube Shorts monetization policies. Keep in mind that any public watch hours from Shorts views in the Shorts Feed don’t count towards the 4,000 public watch hours threshold. Sometimes channels require multiple reviews, especially when several reviewers disagree on your channel’s suitability for YPP. According to our Terms of Service, YouTube retains the right to serve ads on all content on the platform. If a channel is inactive and has not uploaded or posted posts for 6 months or more, YouTube reserves the right to remove its monetization. Note that a channel needs to complete all the YPP signup steps (which currently include signing the contract and associating an AdSense for YouTube account) before they will be reviewed.

How you can become eligible

• We’ll get back to you with a decision once your channel is reviewed (typically in about 1 month).
• Your channel also must not have any active Community Guidelines strikes in order to apply.
• If you’re not eligible yet, select Get notified in the Earn area of YouTube Studio.
• Current members of the program won’t be removed when receiving Community Guidelines strikes.

Once you apply, your channel will go through a standard review process to see whether your channel meets our policies and guidelines. Our automated systems and human reviewers will review your channel as a whole to make sure your channel follows all of our policies and guidelines. Keep in mind we continuously check channels in YPP to make sure 4 rabet they continue to meet our policies and guidelines over time.

All YPP applications are serviced in the order they’re received by us. Keep in mind delays are possible due to higher-than-usual application volumes, system issues, or resource limitations. Check back in the Earn section of YouTube Studio anytime to see the status of your application.

If you’ve met the threshold and applied for YPP, we’ll still review your channel for YPP suitability. Your channel also must not have any active Community Guidelines strikes in order to apply. Every channel that meets the threshold will go through a standard review process. If you have active Community Guidelines strikes on your channel, you can apply after your strikes expire.

These thresholds help us make a more informed decision about whether your channel meets our policies and guidelines. If you do not currently meet the higher eligibility criteria of YPP you may still see ads being served on your content. Channels will lose monetization when they violate any of the YouTube channel monetization policies.

Once you accept YPP terms and link an active AdSense for YouTube account, your channel will automatically be put in a review queue. Once you understand what you need to join, your channel can become eligible for YPP with either Shorts or long-form video.
